Taylor County Extension Aquaculture
Aquaculture is the fastest growing sector of agriculture in the state of Florida. In 2003, Florida aquaculture producers reported sales of $95.5 million according to a survey conducted for the Division of Aquaculture, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. In Taylor County, local pond owners have traditionally relied upon the Cooperative Extension Service to provide technical expertise and advise with regards to the proper management of fish ponds. Services include: on-site inspections and water quality testing, technical advice, and coordination of visiting experts specializing in small farm pond and recreational pond management.
